BLOG

This is the page of Tuomo Vuoteenoma. I’m mostly building kinetic art & performative sculptures in KITA – The House of Kinetic Arts in Joutsa, Finland. I work through mixed waste method, as my artistic ideas are usually inspired by discarded material, cultural layers and absurd social circumstances.

art & installations

The main method of an artist is playing. Playfulness is natural feature for all young living beings. At the same time – in most professions – it is not tolerated to fool around to maintain the business-as-usual.

Would it be possible that this inner artist would not be killed after childhood? What if part time dysfunctionality was dispensed evenly among people? Could the making of art be compared to the need for sleep? Potential health benefits of making art include broadening personal horizons, rising awareness, dematerialization and integrity – just like after a good night’s sleep.

Art is both creative problem solving and questioning. In a daydream, a person simulates challenging situations in the waking world. The artist, on the other hand, simulates the dream into the real world and sometimes makes it happen in reality.
If the basic conditions of life are met, art is a way to make life meaningful and perhaps makes it possible for the world of ideas to be interconnected and strengthened. Art extrapolates systems of observed facts into utopias and makes philosophical viewpoints more perceptible. In addition to pure reason, art uses fingertips, all the senses and unaware intuition as antennas for cosmic messages.
