Summer for KITA has now been gone for a while. I’m very happy how The Invisibility – Näkymättömyys exhibition rolled out and wrapped in! There was about 2200 visitors in the show, which is almost the same as last year. Much appreciation & admiration for the artists Elisa Hillgen, Mari Hokkanen, Marianne Kurki, Antti Kytömäki, Mimosa Pale, Kestutis Svirnelis and Marloes van Son! Can’t wait making the ’25 show!

This summer 2024 KITA is collaborating with Youth Culture Center Annantalo in Helsinki. In Liikkuva Laboratorio -exhibition, there are two moving sculptures from Vuoteenoma and workshops with children are organised to Night of Arts in August. Everything went down well and there were some 700 peolple in the opening happening the same time as Barnfesten in the same house. Also small video from Drusb II -machine in the national news TV-NYTT starting at 7:15.

Welcome to the second KITA -show this summer in Joutsa, Finland. There are nine artists/groups this time, which are: Erik Alaooga, Artemisia Vulgaris, Johanna Latvala, Henna Matanuska, Antti Tolvi, Essi Pitkänen, Jenni Sormunen, Panu Ollikainen and me as the artistic director of KITA. KITA will be part of 2023 Haihatus Arts Center Summer Exhibition. In the exhibition, there will more than 30 artistst present from Finland and all over the world. For more info, check out Haihatus.

An art exhibition that can be viewed outside the KITA gallery in the evenings from 19:00 to 21:00 every day during the exhibition. Guided tours of the interiors by agreement, you can make an appointment at tunkki@haihatus.fi. Free entry! Wear warm clothes!

KITA OPEN multi-art picnic celebrates the beginning of the new gallery by inviting art lovers from near and far to Joutsa. The event is an inclusive and free multi-arts event that takes place in KITA’s garden and at different locations in Joutsa village. Kalle and Pauliina Turakka Purhonen act as patrons of the open croquet tournament! The dress code for the event is “Wild treasures of the wardrobe”. The program includes performances and musical acts. The follow-up club of the picnic takes place at the Kellari restaurant in the center of Joutsa.

The list of performers is updated on Facebook – feel free to offer the program to kita@haihatus.fi! KITA OPEN also heats up the old renovated undeground sauna for picnic guests on Sunday! In the yard it is possible to grill, swim and enjoy the August weekend! The picnic starts on Saturday 6.7. at 15:00 and ends on Sunday at 17:00. The gallery is open as usual during the event.
